HISTORY DIRTY TRICKS

 Dirty Tricks
Stairway To Zeppelin were formed over 4 years ago with the original four members of Dirty Tricks, a British Rock band who recorded 3 albums for Polydor Records in the late 70s.

The band toured extensively in Britain and also toured the USA doing stadium gigs alongside Bob Seeger and the Silver Bullet band, Cheap Trick, Patti Smith, Blue Oyster Cult. They were the first British band ever to play CBGB’s New-York (see backdrop image).

Upon the arrival of Punk in 1977, Dirty Tricks went their separate ways. In late 1977, Johnny (Guitar), Terry (Bass) and Andy (Drums) were invited to Stoke-on-Trent to begin rehearsals for Blizzard of Oz with Ozzy Osbourne. Terry Horbury worked extensively with Vardis and Donovan McKitty from America (this band features Nico McBrain on drums). Andy Beirne went onto Grand Prix who also included Bernie Shaw, Phil Lanzon (Uriah Heep) and Robin McAuley (Michael Schenker). Kenny Stewart stopped touring, recorded as a solo artist and wrote for Lion Heart. John Frazer-Binnie toured America extensively with Rogue Male. Just prior to Stairway to Zeppelin, Johnnie and Terry were playing with Paddy Goes To Holyhead, a London based Rock band.
